🖋️It's Petition Season
The window for designating petitions opened on February 24 and closes on April 2. During this period, you may be visited by a local Democrat and asked to add your signature to the petitions they are carrying. We're circulating two types of designating petitions.
To Serve on the Steuben County Democratic Committee

The Steuben County Democratic Committee (SCDC) is composed of registered Democrats who have been selected by other Democrats to represent their districts. This is normally done through petitions every two years. The City of Hornell is divided into ten districts (wards) and each district chooses two Democrats to represent them on the SCDC. Aspiring representatives must gather a required number of signatures, which varies from six to eight depending on the number of Democratic voters in a district. If more than two Democrats in a district gather the required number of signatures, Democratic voters elect two representatives during the June primary. (This rarely happens.)
To Get Aaron Gies on the Democratic Ballot

Aaron Gies is running as a Democrat to represent New York's 23rd District in the House of Representatives. This seat is currently occupied by MAGA Republican Nick Langworthy. The SCDC recently endorsed Aaron's candidacy and Hornell Democrats are working to gather some of the 1250 Democratic signatures Aaron needs to appear on the primary ballot.
